Reviews For SOMEWHERE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE by Mary Eason

"Try as they might to resist it is futile and the steam rising from the two lovers is palpable. I really enjoyed this book. I was all wound up in the tale and heartbroken at their predicament. The characters are well developed and realistic and the plot was intriguing and kept me involved. I couldn’t wait to find out the truth of why Damon was seeking revenge! I highly recommend Somewhere Between Love and Hate. You’ll enjoy every word of this contemporary novelette. Damon is so hot and sexy he can walk through my door any time – and like Lili I’d offer him anything he wants! The heat is so high you’ll need to turn down your thermostat!" – Reviewed by Lynda Warnock, Simply Romance Reviews

"The sensual tension in Some Where Between Love and Hate is riveting. I got tingles just reading this story. The plot is fascinating. The lead characters, Lili and Damon have an intense, conflicting relationship. The story behind their fathers’ relationship is intriguing. Mary Eason has a winner!" - Reviewed by Debra Gaynor for ReviewYourBook.com

"Mary Eason has written a more traditional type romance where the hero falls for the heroine quite suddenly even though she may be considered the enemy.
Somewhere Between Love and Hate has two characters who are very stubborn, which makes their feelings for each other all the better. Lili has some internal issues about not being good enough for the sexy Damon. Even when he blackmails and threatens her, Lili can’t help but see past his blustering. If I were Lili, I probably would have fallen into his arms and bed as well. Damon is not a bad guy; he just needs answers because of the complicated past between him and Lili’s father. He has a turn of heart all because of the love a good woman.

Even though there is some drama and angst on Damon’s end, overall this is a borderline sweet romance. Lili and Damon do have some great chemistry and I had hoped by the end, everything would work out between the two, and they would have their happily ever after. For a pleasing read, I recommend Somewhere Between Love and Hate." - Reviewed by: Katie, Fallen Angel Reviews

Sample Chapter For SOMEWHERE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE by Mary Eason

The beginning of something unsettling slipped uncomfortably along her spine. She couldn’t remember Damon being late before. Something more important must be keeping him.

Something’s wrong...

Her gaze drifted back to the door. Suddenly she realized what seemed so odd beyond the whole eight o’clock thing. The rest of the offices appeared far too quiet. Somehow, Lili didn’t think a little thing like time mattered to someone like Damon. No doubt if he were in the office, he expected those beneath to be present and accounted for as well.

She opened the connecting door to the reception area, only to find it empty. Even Damon’s assistant had left for the evening. The lights were all out. The offices were dark.

Lili closed the door softly and glanced nervously around the room again. Nothing seemed out of place. Certainly there was nothing to cause so much uneasiness, except for a single file, which sat closed on Damon’s decidedly masculine desk.

Leave now! Before it’s too late! It took everything within her not to listen to the little warning voice going off inside her head.

She couldn’t walk away from her father, not when they were so close to completing the sale, which might just end up saving his life.

Martin’s health had reached the critical stage around four months earlier when Lili first became aware of how serious things truly were. Of course, she knew his heath had suffered because of Martin’s addiction to alcohol and various other destructive forms of entertainment he’d abused his body with through the years.

But when her father called to ask for her help, he’d told her the grim reality. He was dying. Martin long ago used up most of his available financial resources. The sale of the remaining antiquities gallery would be his last hope at getting the treatment he needed to prolong his life. Without this deal, her father’s future looked very bleak.

Mrs. Hendricks, the woman from the village who stopped by to bring her father groceries and check in on him, called Lili to tell her about all the things her father kept forgetting to do. Once the deal was finalized, Lili planned to move in with her father.

So much depended on the success of this deal. But still something didn’t feel right about this evening. Lili tried to dismiss the uneasiness, which continued to grow stronger with each passing moment Damon didn’t appear to reassure her this would all be over in just a little while.

From somewhere deep within the building, an elevator surged to life, breaking the uncomfortable silence. As Lili listened to its muted hum, she imagined hearing the sound of rich, warm, familiar laughter. Damon’s laughter. A disturbing sound in the eerie silence.

She held her breath at the abrupt thump as the elevator glided to a halt. Footsteps, more than one set, moved closer, along with the sound of conversation, then both faded into the distance. Just her imagination.

Lili glanced at her watch once more. Half past the original meeting time. Without even considering the consequences of her actions, she started for the door, her footsteps hurried. Her fingers trembled as she reached for the knob.

Stop it! This is ridiculous! It’s just your imagination...
