| On December 31,
1998, Sue Northey was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma,
a relatively rare form of cancer that affects the lymphatic system.
After undergoing months of chemotherapy and radiation, Sue was
deemed cancer-free in September of 1999.
On the Other Side: The Journey of a Cancer Survivor is Sue’s
second published book. Her first, Pilgrim Prayers for People Living
with Cancer, was published in September 2004. Sue is currently
in the process of writing her third book which focuses on the
healing powers of journaling, along with a journal that allows
the reader to experiment with a variety of different journaling
techniques.
Since her recovery, Sue has dedicated much of her spare time to
helping others through their cancer experience. She has taught
Healing through Journaling workshops and has spoken about her
journey at numerous events sponsored by such organizations as
the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society,
Froedtert Hospital, and the Milwaukee Art Museum. She sits on
the Cancer Center Advisory Board for the Medical College of Wisconsin,
the Board of Directors for the Froedtert Foundation, the President’s
Advisory Council for Froedtert Hospital, and the Marketing Board
for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Sue has received two special awards that recognize her concerted
efforts towards raising awareness and funds for cancer research.
The Wisconsin Business Journal honored her as Milwaukee’s
Woman of Influence in 2002 in the Inspirational Leader category
and the Association for Women in Communications honored Sue as
The Leading Change Business Leader in 2004.
Sue is Senior Vice President/Managing Director of the Brand Planning
Department at one of the nation’s top tier marketing communications
firms. She resides in Franklin, Wisconsin with her husband, John,
and their three children, Bryan, Matthew, and Katelyn.
